Amiidae

Amiidae, or Bowfin, is a one species family. Amia calva is the only species in this family, which belongs to the order Amiiformes. Found in eastern North America, the Amia calva is an ancient fish, the earliest occurrence in the fossil record is reported for the Pleistocene.
